Getting Drier Over Time
University of New Mexico Biology Professor Dr. Jenn Rudgers is leading a team of 35 scientists in a study of climate dryness and variability at the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge.
As the director of the Long-Term Ecological Research Program, a $6.4 million research grant funded by NSF, Rudgers’ responsibilities include managing a professional crew of field researchers and interpreting collected data to ask new questions.
The long term goals are to better understand the effects of increased dryness and variability on the ecosystem. Rudgers and her team hope to make better predictions on what to expect of climate change, and in turn, make better management decisions. Read more here.
