ADVANCE publishes UNM Faculty Search Resources

Faculty Search Guide cover with UNM Faculty Search Resources ADVANCE at UNM logo and red banner

If you’ve ever served on or run a faculty search committee, you know the process has a lot of moving parts.

To help, ADVANCE at UNM is partnering with colleagues in Academic Affairs to support all aspects of faculty searches, including recruitment and hiring. We also collaborate on the required workshops on search best practices.  (Use the workshop schedule links below to register.)

As part of our commitment to the search process, a member of the ADVANCE Leadership Team is happy to have a 30-minute confidential meeting with faculty candidates to broadly discuss faculty support resources and to answer their questions. Contact advance@unm.edu with questions or to request that we meet with candidates as part of on-campus interviews.

UPCOMING WORKSHOP INFORMATION

Register soon for our faculty search workshops, which are required for all department chairs, faculty search committee chairs, faculty search committee members, and search coordinators who are participating in faculty searches during AY26. Chose one session. Workshops are in person at the Center for Student Success in Travelstead Hall, which is is located to the east of Zimmerman Library, near the building with Einstein’s Bagels. Please be advised that there are several active construction projects taking place on campus. This may make getting from your office, classroom, etc. to Travelstead a little complicated — consider using the interactive campus map.

When you arrive at Travelstead, there are main doors on both the north and south sides of the building. The presentation will take place in the large open space to the east of the welcome desk. The space on the other side of the desk is for COEHS advisement. There will be sign in sheets. Please make sure you sign in to ensure accurate records of your attendance which will be forwarded to your college or school administrator so they will know when all of their search committee members have taken the training.
