We all know teaching is difficult. Luckily, there are many support systems in place at UNM to help you make the most of your time in and out of your classes — whether they are virtual spaces or a lecture hall.

 

Offices at UNM to support quality instruction include the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Office of the Provost and Information Technologies.

The UNM Center for Teaching and Learning

Type of support offered: teaching feedback and resources, trainings, workshops

For: faculty, GAs and TAs, students

At a glance: If you are a faculty member, graduate or teaching assistant and have questions about teaching, need professional development, or about academic classroom management, the UNM Center for Teaching and Learning is the best place to start.  The center oversees UNM’s teaching awards, coordinates instructional design support for faculty, and provides assistance with videos, graphics, animation and interactive media used in online classes.

 

CTL also offers a variety of support services for undergraduate and graduate students including tutoring and writing help.

2025 Get Set Reset Keynote Speech

Dr. Leola Tsinnajinnie Paquin, an Associate Professor of Native American Studies and 2024-2025 UNM Presidential Teaching Fellow, gave the keynote for the 2025 Get Set, Reset conference. Her presentation focused on thoughtful resiliency, and examines what it means to bring our hearts to teaching and learning in these chaotic and challenging times. She also explored the importance of supporting students to also bring their whole selves to their educational journeys.
