Kristina Trujillo
Honor:
2017 Women In STEM research award winner
Title:
assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Winning project:
Modulating mitchondrial function to alter insulin signaling in insulin resistant C2C12 cells.
Project focus:
Along with Christine Mermier, Trujillo will continue their work on understanding the link between mitochondrial function and insulin signaling. This research could lead to improved insulin signaling in cell culture and even reduce high-fat-diet induced insulin resistance in rats.
