Your background in academia:

Dr. Mahmoud Reda Taha is Professor and Chair of Department of Civil Engineering at University of New Mexico. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Structural Engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. He then received his doctorate degree from the University of Calgary in Canada. Dr. Taha’s research is focused on crossing the gap between structural and materials engineering for integrating nanotechnology, structural health monitoring and uncertainty quantification to develop a resilient infrastructure systems. Dr. Taha has four issued patents and four pending patents and more than 290 scholarly papers published in scholarly journals and refereed conference proceedings. He was awarded the Egypt State Award for Encouragement in 2004, UNM Regents’ Lecturer 2007, the UNM School of Engineering Research Excellence Award in 2010, ACI Walter Moore Faculty Achievement Award in 2010 and was elected as a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute in 2017.
