Title with Advance at UNM:

Internal evaluation team member

Your background in academia:

I am the director and research assistant professor of the UNM Center for Education Policy Research, (CEPR) which partners with key education agencies and stakeholders to conduct applied research in the areas of education policy and program evaluation. As the director, I am responsible for coordinating all research and administrative efforts within the center, fundraising, identifying potential new collaborations, and setting the strategic direction of the center. In addition to my role as the center director, I maintain a research portfolio, which includes higher education policy and government relations, equity-focused research, qualitative methods, Hispanic Serving Institution leadership, community based participatory research, and accelerated workforce training programs in New Mexico. I have a PhD in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Colorado State University.

Why were you attracted to the project?

Advance at UNM is a systematic response to an institutional challenge that is prevalent throughout higher education. Advance at UNM has to the potential to lead systematic change that can be replicated in other institutions and disciplines.

What’s that one cool thing about you?

I love music and I constantly have a song playing in my head.
