Ellis Hamp s an associate professor of dance and serves as Associate Chair in the Department of Theatre & Dance and Associate Dean of Faculty Equity & Excellence in the College of Fine Arts. Their creative and scholarly research focuses on experimental dance that leverages somatic practices to choreograph critical responses to sociopolitical difficulty. They teach contemporary dance technique, choreography, pedagogy, and writing. They earned a BA in Theatre/Dance from Luther College and an MFA in Dance from the University of Iowa, and they are a certified teacher of the somatic practice, Open Source Forms.
