Describe your research in about 200 words.

I earned my Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology in 2006, and I have expertise in computational and experimental radiation transport focused on fundamental and applied radiation detection. My current research projects encompass nuclear nonproliferation, safeguards, forensics, novel radiation sensing systems and sensor materials development, and fundamental and health physics applications. I have many years of experience collaborating on large multi-institutional projects, such as DOE’s NNSA Consortia (CVT and MTV) and DOD’s DTRA Alliance (IIRM-URA).

What’s the most interesting thing you have learned from a student?

The most interesting thing I have ever learned while interacting with students is how many different perspectives can be expected in a classroom. Keeping this fact in mind during the teaching process is essential for effective communication with students.
