Describe your research in about 200 words.

My Research is focused on understanding the mechanisms of skeletal muscle plasticity; the ability to change and adapt (or maladapt) to different stimuli or conditions. My Ph.D. studies focused on the role of specific immune cells in muscle adaptation to exercise. My work as a post-doc at the University of Florida focused on the role of the immune system in contributing to cancer-induced muscle wasting (cachexia). I look forward to continuing these lines of research at the University of New Mexico.
