New UNM professor researches different contributors to segregated cities

Dr. Elizabeth Korver-Glenn recently joined UNM as an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology.

“I decided to come to UNM because I wanted to be part of an institution that emphasizes high-quality research alongside excellence in teaching and community engagement,” Korver-Glenn said.

Her award-winning research focuses on the relationship between race-making and inequality, and how they create segregated cities despite working in non-racial ways.

“In my dissertation, I focused specifically on Houston’s urban housing market, illuminating institutional real estate processes and interactions that, together, constitute racial projects with powerful discriminatory effects,” Korver-Glenn said.
