Describe your research in about 200 words.

I received my Ph.D. degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning with a concentration in Literacy Education from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. My research interests focus on family literacy practices of refugee-background children and families, multimodal literacy, digital literacy, and makerspaces.

What’s the most interesting thing you have learned from a student?

I thought I was an expert to teach students. However, I’ve learned that my students are the experts who already have different kinds of knowledge, skills, and life experiences when they walk into my classroom.
