Kamilla Venner

Dr. Kamilla Venner is an associate professor in Psychology and is a UNM alumna. Her research aims to reduce health disparities for American Indians/Alaska Natives by focusing on culturally tailoring evidence-based treatment and highlighting cultural strengths. Currently, she has federal funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse grant to adapt and test the efficacy of the community reinforcement and family training approach in partnership with a Southwest tribe. Dr. Venner’s teaching interests include diversity and multicultural perspectives at the graduate level and alcohol use disorders and treatment of addictions at the undergraduate level. Her training in motivational interviewing has informed her approach to treatment as well as teaching difficult topics.
