Your background in academia:

Morgan Pettit has served as the FIRST Program Planning Manager since the beginning of the grant in 2022. Her other academic experience is working in the UNM Biology Department from 2015-2017 so she was pleased to return to the university for such wonderful initiative.

 

Prior to the UNM FIRST Program, Pettit worked at the State Bar of New Mexico with attorneys. She worked directly with NM Supreme Court Justice David K Thomson to establish the Judicial Clerkship Program, which was pipeline program created for law students from underrepresented backgrounds to receive paid summer clerkships in prestigious judicial chambers. She also helped to establish the Equity in Justice Program at the State Bar. Although she spent time away from academia, she was committed to establishing diversity, equity and inclusion programs throughout her career. Pettit received her Master’s in Science in Technical Communication from Arizona State University in December 202. She is a UNM lobo alumni with a BS in Evolutionary Anthropology and Biology.
