Your background in academia:

Peter Fawcett earned a B.Sc. in geology from McMaster University and graduate degrees in geoscience from Penn State University. He did a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto in atmospheric physics before joining the faculty at the University of New Mexico in 1997. He currently serves as Chair of the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences and is a Professor of Geoscience. His teaching and research interests are in the area of past climate change, climate dynamics, and sedimentology. He has been the principal investigator on three lake sediment drilling projects in New Mexico, Arizona, and the Basin of Mexico (Mexico City) to understand how climate has changed in the past and affected temperature, seasonality, droughts, and past terrestrial ecosystems.
