Describe your research in about 200 words.

My primary research interest lies in the evaluation of environmental regulations and public policies related to climate change. Specifically, I study the effectiveness of energy transition policies, the design of electricity tariffs with growing renewables, the understanding of behavior response towards energy use, and optimal environmental taxations. I use theoretical and quantitative tools in economics to study the optimal environmental and energy policy designs for governments. My latest research focuses on the impact of electricity interconnection on the transition towards a low carbon energy sector. I evaluate the effect of expanding interconnection on renewable investments and electricity generation and consumption. I also analyze the climate and trade policies instruments governments can use to mitigate carbon leakage and increase social welfare.
